This well known farmer and blacksmith, and one of the enterprising men of the community in which he lives, is a native of Foutain county, Indiana, and one of a family of eight children, five sons, and three daughters, whose parents Stephen and Margaret, are among the well known and respected residents of Liberty township. The names of their children are as follow: Dessie; W.J., of this review; Laurie, Frank, James, Addie Grace and Myrtle. The father, whose birth occurred in Fountain county, is a successful farmer and land owner and for many years had ranked among the leading residents of the community honored by his citizenship.

The subject was born April 2, 1874, in the above township, grew to mature years in close touch with the duties of the farm and early matured his plans for the future with the future with the object in view of becoming more than a mere passive factor in the affairs of men. After attending the public schools until acquiring a knowledge of the branches taught therein he turned his attention to blacksmithing and in due time became quite a proficient mechanic, as the growing patronage of his establishment in the village of Kramer attests. In time past he has rented one hundred and fifteen acres of fine land in Liberty township, which he cultivates according to the most approved methods and which returns him quite a liberal income.

Mr. Simmermon was married in 1900 to Fannie Howerton, and his home has been brightened by the presence of three interesting children, Ole, Harold and Donald.

Fraternally, Mr. Simmermon belongs to the Woodmen and with his wife, identified with the Methodist Episcopal church. As a neighbor and friend he is highly esteemed and in al lthat constitutes intelligent manhood and honorable citizenship he occupies a conspicuous place among his fellow men.
