Just why there are less people in the county now than years ago is not easily solved. It will be observed that the most population ever enjoyed was in 1880, when it had 11,497, while it is now but 10,899. Perhaps the high priced lands has caused many of the younger men to move to western countries and to cities where better opportunities were offered them. This county is not alone in the state in this matter of decrease in population, either.
