Title: Money
File Attachment:
Attachment Type:

Money is the medium which steps in between our poverty and the good things of this world. Money lends us a helping hand and we are kept from want. Desire looks up to the luxuries of life and finds a longing to taste of those luxuries, when money like a good friend that it is, hands them down to us. Nothing that we barter for or sell, nothing which we buy has the quality of being brought into immediate use as money. It ever waits uopn man like a good servant and is always faithful. The uses to which it can be put are without stint or number. Some desirous of living easy and happy, purchase with it solid comfort. Some expecting more and getting less, and lured into buying the pleasures and gaitites of life, thinking, of course, that happiness and comfort naturally follow. Some buy vice, and in its cup of dissipation hope to discover a hidden fountain fountain of enjoyment; and at the end of their race,- which comes after a few short years of guilt and sorrow,- the grave opens, the wretch staggers in and the "sod of the valley" hide him from the world forever. Some with greater prudence , east at the shrine of fashion their shining gold, and become voteries of folly and sin. Money at the command of its master, buys for him happiness or sorrow; virtue of vice; life or death. In its proper employment it is made to soothe a "dying pillow" nd lighten the "valley of the shades of death." If made to serve an evil purpose through life, it thickens around our last moments the shades of endless despair, and the star of hop is shut from our view.
