The trial of Henry S. Drake, for the murder of McCormick, came of the 3d of March, at Watseka, Illinois. Considerable time was taken up in getting a Jury, and the whole week was occupied in the case. After the arguments pro and con and the instructions of the court the Jury retired, and after deliberating three hours returned a verdict, guilty of manslaughter, and sentenced him to the State Penitentiary for thirteen years. A motion for a new trial was made, but have not heard that the motion was sustained.
