Title: A Fire
File Attachment:
Attachment Type:

Last Monday morning the alarm of fire was given, which produced quite a stir. Every body seemed bent on going some place as quick as legs could carry him. At last it was found to be the house of Mr. William Wolf, in the north part of town. Already the fire was breaking from the roof, above, near the stove flue, and in a few moments the entire structure- being wooden- would have been a pile of coals and ashes. But Downing was there, and by the assistance of the town and a few buckets of water the fire was put out; and the house, "a little the worse for wear," is a standing monument to the alacrity of our citizens.
