Title: A New Court House
File Attachment:

Text:

Quite a feeling is now manifested in relation to building a new Court House. Not only in and about Williamsport is this need felt, bu tin the remotest parts of the county. The people express themselves in favor of the speedy erection of a better Court House. During our terms of court, the present miserable structure does not afford the conveniences which the people of so good a county as Warren have a right to demand.- They are becoming tired of being jammed together like so many beasts in a stall, and are not willing longer to submit to such impositins as are at every term thurst upon them.- Then separate from the limited dimensions of the house, and its very poor arrangement and conveniance, it is quite old- its walls are beginning to spread apart; making it really unsafe to hold court in. Under this state of affairs, we deem it the duty of our commissioners, at their very first meeting to proceed to levey a tax for building a good, neat substantial court house, and make that tax collectable in one year, and as soon as collected, build the house. We say let old Warren county rank with her sister county rank in point of public enterprise and public respect.
