Walter Q. Gresham

Gresham was a brigadier general under Ulysses S. Grant. He served for many years as United States District Judge for Indiana. Also, he was a candidate against Benjamin Harrison for the Republican nomination for President in 1888. He served as Secretary of State in the Cleveland administration.

He was fond of Warren County and bought a farm in Prairie Township where he spent a portion of his time until his death in 1895.
