Hall of West Lodge, F. & A.M., September 29th, 1869

Whereas, It has pleased our divine Master in the dispensation of his providence; to remove from us, our beloved Brother James H. Shankland, by death, however much we feel the loss, we submit to the rulings of our heavenly Master, remembering with pleasure the many pleasant and happy meetings and greetings we have had in our earthly Lodge, and will ever cherish in our memories until we are sumoned to meet him in the Grand Lodge above where we meet him in the Grand Lodge above where we meet to part no more.

Resolved, That we tender to his bereaved wife and children our heartfelt sympathy in this their greatest earthly trial, and commend them to our Heavenly Father knowing he will be a father to the orphan and a support and comfort to the widow in all her trials.
