Title: A Runaway
File Attachment:
Attachment Type:

On last Thursday morning as our fellow citizen S.F. Messner was driving from his residence towards town, his mare took fright at one of the shafts becoming detached from the axle and falling on her heels, causing her to run away. She came down the "dug hill" in flying colors with the shafts, and made the circuit of the town, when she finally brought up against the fence surrounding the court house, and properly taken care of. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt, which is to be wondered at, as the doctor had in with him his wife and child. We venture to say that about the time the old roan made her first "lunge" was the first that Sammy ever said his prayers.
