Title: Ballott Box used in Jordan Township
File Attachment:
Attachment Type: image

"This was the last ballot box used in Jordan Township prior to the advent of the Australian Balloting System. Voters wrote the name of the candidate they were voting for on a slip of paper and dropped it into the Ballot Box. John Harvey Day was the trustee of Jordan Township when this new law went into effect. So having no more use for it he brought it home and it has been around ever since.
My grandfather was trustee of Jordan back in the 1870's so I am told." - Bill Day

[The lid on top slides to allow you into the box. There is a slit on top where you drop your ballot into the box.]
