Title: Van Reed Cemetery

Text:

This cemetery is located one and one-half miles south of Briscoe on US41. Unfortunately this cemetery is in the worst condition that we have found so far. The rose brambles and burrs were so prolific they defy description In fact, they almost defied penetration. It was sad to see so many tall stately stones broken on the ground into so many separate pieces. One infant's grave had been vandalized. One woman's theory was that valuable family possessions that had been buried with her were the object of search. As with many small cemetaries, this was located on top of a small knoll overlooking a small stream. The major names included are Van Reed, Beever, and Hickman. It contains stones dated in the early 1830's.
