Title: Erection of New Memorial Fountain
File Attachment:
Attachment Type:

The erection of the handsome new memorial fountain, a gift to the public by Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus C. Evans in memory of their three deceased sons, Albert L., Morris A., and Kenneth Burt, and located at the northwest corner of the Warren County courthouse lawn at Williamsport, was completed last week by LeRoy Pope, contractor. The memorial consists of a vertical tablet of polished Barre granite bearing the inscrption which is to perpetuate both the names of the donors and their sons. Directly in front of this tablet is the fountain which is also polished granite. The total height of the tablet, which is of Gothic design, is eight feet and four inches.

The fountain is three feet high and rests on a second base of axed granite. The base is in two elevations to accomodate both grownups and children, and the fountain is designed for all year service. Each time the fountain is used the water drains back to below freezing and it is necessary to wait a few minutes when the valve is opened by the foot pedal for the water to rise from the freezing level to the top of the fountain.
