Title: Time to Get a Move On
File Attachment:
Attachment Type:

We do not wish to criticise or find fault, but does our Council honestly believe the citizens and their property are receiving all the protection from fire that they deserve or should have for the expense in taxes they pay? We are informed that the pressure the morning of the fire was so light that the water could not be made to reach the second floor of the court house. Was this because there was not sufficient water in the standpipe, or on account of the pumps not working? Under the conditions of last Sunday morning had the wind been in almost any other direction the business portion of Williamsport would have been swept by the fire fiend and without help from the water plant. If the best was donw that could be done then the Council is justified in appropriating funds until the plant is equpped firstclass for the emergency of fire.
