Editor Republican.--Let me say a word through the REPUBLICAN on the Congressional Canvas. I learn by the talk that the counties of Tippecanoe and Montgomery are going to vote to compliment Warren county and Warren county's candidate. That they are going to give a vote to her candidate on account of his age, as a matter of courtesy to that age. And they go so far as to say that Warren ought to be praised, and it should be said of her, "well done good and faithful servant."---All such kind of talk we hear concerning "old Warren," and Warren's tried leader, Hon. B.F. Gregory, but not a word have we heard of any notion to nominate Warren county's candidate. Oh! no, that is not meant. All that these counties propose to do for Warren is to give her complimentary votes, that's all, more than that they do not think of. When the question is on nominating a candidate, then it must be a man from one of those counties.---They will give complimentary votes to men of other counties, but when they nominate, it must be their own men. Well this is consoling, and how patronizing too, for these two counties who always furnished the men, to so condescend as to compliment some other man. We can say to those counties that Warren county is not putting forward a candidate for the purpose of getting the cheap commendation of these two counties, but she wants her candidate nominated. She has sttod out in the cold and done the voting to save the district as long as she feels like it. She wants the office once--this time. It is her just due. If she cannot get that, she don't wish to be insulted by cheap trickery, of getting a complimentary vote. It is an insult to her dignity to talk so. Warren
