Title: A SAD ACCIDENT.

Text:

A little daughter of Mr. William Johnson, aged about 10 years, was suddenly killed last Sunday at 4 o'clock. Mr. J., was formerly a resident of Williamsport, and every little boy and girl here no doubt, remembers Ada Johnston. Mr. J., has subsequently lived at Attica and Fort Wayne, and at the time of Ada's death the family, consisting of Johnston his wife and two children, Ada and Anna, were visiting at Mr. J. Heffley's, who had lately moved to Attica, and the father of Mrs. Johnston. Ada on last Sunday afternoon obtained permission of her mother to take a walk, and she in company with two or three of her little friends started off, little dreaming that ere they returned again that one of their childish number would have been called to the Father above. It appears that they went to "Pine Creek Bridge," or near there, and all who have been there know that at this point, the banks of the stream are quite steep. It being a beautiful day, the sun shining brightly and nature just waking from her wintry slumbers, the little friends felt the glad influence of that sunshiny day, and in their forgetfulness all danger was forgotten. Ada seeing a flower near the edge of the bank, she ventured too near to pluck it, when losing her balance she fell headlong over the bank down a distance of some forty feet, striking her head on the rocks below and rolled on into the water. Mr. John Hays, of Attica, being near at the time, and seeing the accident, ran forward and rescued the body from its watery grave, the child breathing but two or three times after he had taken it from the water. In this manner, the little creature in a instant, was summoned from its childish enjoyments here, to the bosom of the good Shepherd above. While we clasp our own darlings mre closely to our hearts, and feel grateful that they are spared to us, let us not forget to sympathize with those in deep affliction.
