Text:

We this week publish the following letter of Hon. G. S. Orth., written to Mr.B. F. Gregory, our candidate for congress, in answer to one written by Mr.G., sometime previous: Washington, D. C., April 4, 1870. FRIEND GREGORY:--Your favor is received, and I thank you for your expressions of kindness towards myself and my course in congress. In this connection permit me to add, that I shall never forget the good people of Warren county, who for the last eight years have given me their hearty and cordial support. The Republicans of your county have at all times occupied the front rank in advocating and supporting the principles of our party, never stopping yo enquire whether these principles were popular or unpopular-Believing they were right, they never hesitated or faltered in their devotion to the cause of freedom and humanity; and by their unvarying majorities, have time and again saved our District from defeat. in all these contests you have stood by your neighbors, cheering them in the good work. To achieve success in the approaching campaign, we must have the utmost harmony and good feeling; and in this respect, the Republicans of your county have given us many examples which can be safely and profitably followed. Yours Truly, GODLOVE S. ORTH. To Hon. B. F. Gregory
