The chain used on the derrick at the quarry again broke into a thousand and two pieces last Tuesday at about ten o'clock, luckily killing no one. At the time it broke, a stone weighing 2,000 lbs was being hoisted up and was near the top, the chain snapped, and away went the stone into the depths below crumbling the rock into small pieces and sand. The boom was broken, and portions of the broken chain were found up near to where Mrs.Pritchard lives, a distance between 1/8 and a 1/4 of a mile. One of these fragments coming heels foremost at a fellow would give him but little time for dodging.
