News reached this place on Tuesday afternoon of the death of Solomon Shatell, living about four miles north of Hedrick early Tuesday morning. Mr. Shatell had been suffering from la grippe but was thought to be much better until Monday when he grew much worse and died on Tuesday morning. We are pained to know that Alva Rhodes passed away on the 13th of this month after an illness of two weeks, from lung fever. He was twenty-one years old last April; was a bright and cheerful young man, and loved by all who knew him. He leaves a host of friends to mourn his loss. His relatives have the sympathy of the entire community. Old Uncle Billy Clark, as we always called him, died at his home in Steuben Township Sunday night, the seventh of February last, after an illness of many months. Uncle Billy has lived an honest and upright life, and is one that will be missed in this part of the county by his many friends.
