Drank His Last Glass. Sunday morning about 7 o'clock, Deputy Coroner Ivins of this place received notice of the discovery of a body of an unknown man which had been run over by a train on the Wabash Railroad between the overhead bridge and the wagon crossing just west of Attica. Upon repairing to the coroner found the remains strewn for some distance along the track, the body completely disemboweled, and the head and limbs completely severed, with scarcely enough left together to tell that it had been a human being. One hand and the forearm were found at the cattle guard between the mouth of the cut and the wagon crossing some ten or fifteen rods away. The bod was apparently that of a man of medium height, weighing about 145 pouinds, of a rather fair complexion and from forty to forty five years old. Upon one arm was tattooed the picture of an ark with a twig upon the left side and a man upon the right. The upper portion of his left ear was gone apparently from being frozen off. He was indentified as an umbrella mender who had been in this place Saturday and was seen in Attica late Saturday night very much under the influence of liquor. He left the town about 11 o'clock, after buying some provisions saying he was going over to the old quarry switch to remain over Sunday, whither on his way it is supposed he was struck by the fast line from the west met his horrible fate. The following is the coroner's verdict: "Deceased came to his death by being run over by some railroad train of cars to me unknown, somewhere about midnight of the 23rd and 24th of April 1892, while under the influence of liquor." The remains were collected in a coffin, and buried in the potter's field of the old yard in Hillside Cemetery. Later: It was learned yesterday that the man had told his name was Daniel Kene of Boston, Mass., and that he was a tinner by trade.
