Willaim Swaney, a former resident of this place, died at his home about four miles east of Independence last Wednesday morning, one week ago, and the inications are that he perished from want and exposure to the extreme cold. He and his little sone lived together in a dilapidated old house hear "Black Rock" and were scantily provided against the extreme winter weather, in food, clothing or shelter. The old gentleman being about 83 years old, was not strong enough to withstand the bitter cold of the 10th, inst., and was taken with a chill, dying about one o'clock Wednesday morning. The funeral ceremonies took place last Thursday, when the remains were brought to this place and entered in Hillside Cemetery. Steinis Barnhart of Attica died at his home in the above place Wednesday morning. His death was not unexpected. Interment took place in the Catholic Cemetery Friday. John Heischman's lost their yougest son last Sunday.
