The subject of this memorial sketch was born in Virginia September the 25th, 1816 and yet while a youth he emigrated with his parents to Butler County, Ohio where he lived until the year of 1834, when he with his parents, came to Fountain County, Indiana, and settled on what is known as Shawnee Prairie, where he lived until the fall of 1871, when he with his family moved to Warren County and settled on the farm which he has so beautifully adorned. He was married to Francis Beasley August the 8th, 1863, their union being blessed with eight children- six boys and two girls, the two oldest being twins, and are married, the other six remaining at home. He also leaves two grandchildren of whom he so often spoke of as being idols of his heart. On Monday previous to his death, he was at West Lebanon, and walking along stepped upon a banana pealing, slipped and fell causeing internal injuries of which he lingered in great pain until Thursday morning April the 20, 1893 when death relieved him. The funeral ceremonies conducted by Rev. Wm Wilmer were held from the family residence Saturday April the 22nd at 9:30, after which interment tok place in Beulah Cemetery 3 1/2 miles southeast of Attica.
