An eight months old baby of Milton Meihl of Attica was found dead in bed with its mother early Thursday morning. It was not known that anything was wrong with the child. Friday at Pond Grove Chapel at 2 o'clock, were held the funeral services of the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allen. The circumstances attending her death were very sad indeed. On Sunday about 11 o'clock as she was returning from a neighbor's, in crossing a small stream of water, she was bitten by a small spotted snake. She bound up her foot, which was only slightly swollen as from a bee sting. On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Allen went to Lafayette, when the little girl was taken with spasms and hemorrhage of the nose. A neighbor going in sent for Dr. Smith, who did all in his power to relieve her, but it was too late and she died after much suffering on Tuesday evening. It is thought she was bitten by a rattlesnake, as they are plentiful in the region. She was a bright and promising child of 10 years of age. The family has the sympathy of a host of friends in their great bereavement.
