Mrs. Joseph Galleher died at her home near Inpendence Monday night from stomach trouble. She was thought to be as well as usual and upon going to her room to arouse her Tuesday morning it was found that she was dead. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon. The many friends of Mr. Alonzo Meek and wife, former residents of this place, will be much pained to learn of the death of their daughter, Jessie, who died last Friday evening from typhoid malaria, after several days' illness. Jessie was within 15 days of being 15 years old, just entering womanhood, the only daughter, and her seemingly untimely death is a great blow to her parents. The many friends of the family here greatly sympathize with the bereaved ones in this their deep sorrow. We also learn that Arthur, the oldest boy, is not expected to recover from the same disease. John R. Johnson, one of the pioneers of Mound Township, died last Friday after a long illness. The funeral occurred Sunday forenoon at 10 o'clock and the remains were laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery near State Line. Mr. Hickman and family of this place attended the funeral of Edward, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Z. F. George of Portland, Sunday. The small child of John Mefford's died Sunday at four o'clock and was laid to rest Monday in the Lyons Cemetery.
