The oldest daughter of Ed and Katie Martin died of congestion at the home of its grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Sager at Carbondale Monday. Interment was made Wednesday afternoon in Hillside Cemetery near this place. Edward Scholsser died at his home just west of this place at 7 o'clock Monday morning from consumption, after almost a three years' illness, aged 49 years, 6 months and 17 days. He was the son of Elias Scholsser Sr., and was born and raised in this county, always living on the farm where he died. The funeral services conducted by the Rev. Wilmer were held at the family residence at noon Wednesday after which interment was made in the West Lebanon Cemetery. Mr. Schlosser was a Woodman and a Knight of Honor, these two orders having charge of the burial ceremonies. The funeral cortege was very large. The small son of Jesse Cole died last Friday night 2 1/2 miles northwest of Hedrick. Miss Retta McDonald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McDonald, who reside west of town, died on Tuesday of last week after a short illness of typhoid fever. She was aged about 21 years. The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the Redwood Cemetery. Ripe in years, honored and respected by all who knew him the summons came to James Chizun last Tuesday. Mr. Chizum has been an invaled for over two years, a victim of paralysis, and while death has its horrors, it was no doubt a welcome visitor to this aged sufferer. For some time previous to his death, he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Charles Kell, one mile east of town. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his death. The funeral ovvurred Sunday and the remains were interred near his old home at Mound Prairie.
