Mrs. Mary Polland, an old lady at the County Farm, died Sunday evening and was laid to rest Monday afternoon. Sunday, November 18th, John Richey, who for a number of years had made his home with either McAdamson or Mark Rogers in Mound Township, shot himself in the fleshy part of the leg at the home of the latter, while attempting to clean the gun. The wound did not seem to be so serious at first and Dr. Roland of Covington was called, who did all he could for the man. Richey, however, grew worse and died from the effects about noon of November the 26th. He was almost forty years old and unmarried. The burial services took place on Tuesday the 27th. George O. Elwell was born Oct. 25th, 1830 near Campton, Vermont and departed this life Thursday morning, Nov. 22d, 1894, aged 64 years and 28 days. He had been sick for nearly six months. His disease was heart and lung trouble, and finally dropsy, from which he died. In 1857 he was married to Sarah Hunter, near Rainsville, Ind., after which he returned to his home near Chicago, Illinois. In 1860 he moved to Warren County, Ind., where he settled. In 1862 he joined the Eighty-sixth Ind. Regiment from which he was discharged for disability in 1863. He returned to his home in Warren County where he has lived ever since. He was a hard worker, and a good, kind husband and father. He was the father of seven children and leaves a wife and three children to mourn his death. He will be sadly missed by relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the residence Nov. 23d, conducted by Rev. Wm Wilmer. Remains were laid to rest in Rainsville cemetery in Warren Co., Ind.
