John Anderson, Sr., brother of Robert Anderson of this place, died at his home near Milford, Ill., Monday. Robert had been at his bedside the past week. Deceased was born in Ohio August 15, 1842, and departed this life at his home near Independence, Ind., December 5, 1895, aged 53 years, 3 months and 20 days. His death resulted from lung fever. He was only confined to his bed one week. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn his death, and although everything that living, untiring hands and skillful physician could do was done, it seemed of no use. Death same and took from us a dear husband and father. The remains were laid to rest in the Pine Village Cemetery, a few appropriate remarks being made at the cemetery by the pastor at that place, Rev. Rodgers. David Southard was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Odle, the eldest daughter of the late Thomas Odle, December 19, 1866. To this union eleven children were born, five of whom survive him, six having passed before. He was a kind and loving husband, father and friends and was liked by all who knew him. Jordan Roberts, aged about 70 years and an old and much respected citzen of Warren Township, died at his home three and one half miles north of Independence, Saturday morning. Mr. Roberts was one among the early settlers of the township, having done much business with Jacob Hanes and his fellow associates of that day. The funeral services occurred Sunday.
