Effie M. Osvalt, little daughter of Mano and Lida Osvalt, died in Williamsport, Ind., March 25th, 1896, aged 3 years, 9 months and 1 day. She was a bright little girl and was a favorite in the family, she being the only daughter. She will be greatly missed, but their loss will be her gain. She has been sick several days and her suffering was intense. The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. Osvalt on Friday the 27th instant, Rev. A. L. Surface officiating, assisted by the M. E. choir, after which her remains were laid to rest in the Independence Cemetery. Joseph Timmons, a well-known resident of North Benton County, committed suicide by shooting the top of his head off with a shotgun. He was about 45 years old. Despondency is said to be the cause.
