Master Whitehead, an eleven-year-old orphan boy living with Thomas Johnson in Davis Township, Fountain County, died Sunday from lockjaw the result of running a nail in his foot on Wednesday previous. Nicholas Swadley, aged about 32 years, died at his home north of Independence on Tuesday of last week of Bright's disease. He was a son of John Swadley of Lafayette and married a daughter of the late John May. He leaves a wife and one child to mourn his death. The funeral services, conducted by Rev. D. A. Rodgers of Pine Village were held in the church at Independence on Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the cemetery north of the above place. The bereaved's many friends extend sympathies.
