Last Wednesday morning, Oct. 7th, Mrs. Susie Catterlain died at her home on the Keister farm only a short distance from the Springs. Her illness was of short duration, but very painful. Blood poisoning was the immediate cause. She leaves a husband and a 2-year-old son. The house and yeard were crowded with people to pay her the last sad respect possible for one to give. The funeral was in charge of Elder P. T. Martin of the Christian Church. Anthony Harmon, one of the pioneers of this county, died at his home four miles north of Independence, of old age and Bright's disease at 1 o'clock Tuesday morning. Mr. Harmon was man of strong character and for years a prominent man of the community. He has been in poor health for some time having been confined to his home. He leaves four sons and one daughter to mourn his death. The funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock today from the residence, interment being made in the family cemetery. Mrs. Zack Smart died last Friday morning at the family residence in this place of consumption. She has been ill with that dread disease for several months. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her untimely death. Deceased was 43 years of age. The funeral services were held at the family residence Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Shagley, after which the remains were interred in the Tharp Cemetery, west of town.
