Last Tuseday afternoon the dead and frozen form of a young woman named Silvers was found near the center of a cornfield between Independence in this county, and the station opposite opposite in Fountain County. The body was lying in the mud, face down and had to be cut out with axes before the friends could remove it. It had been lying there three weeks last Monday, at which time the weather was not cold and a person walking would not freeze. A basket she carried was found quite a distance from the body and the ground showed that she had crawled from the basket to where she died. Her parents live at the Independence station, and the girl was going home from where she had been working for a family in the north part of Warren Township. On her way had stopped a short time with Ross McClatchey and family, a brother-in-law, living in Independance. She did not seem well while there. Her parents were not expecting her home and when told she had gone there three weeks before they were greatly alarmed and a search was instituted, leading to the revovery of the body on Tuesday. The Coroner will probably investigate the matter today at the home of the parents. Morgan Jones, one of the very early pioneers of this county, died at the home of his son, Isaac O. Jones, in Liberty Township last Tuesday, aged 93 years, 2 months and 15 days. The funeral services were held at the residence last Saturday at 11o'clock a.m., and interment was made in the Chenoweth Cemetery. Adam R., the brother of Justice Enoch McNeal of Ransville, after a few days of suffering from typhoid Pneumonia, died at his home in Chicago, No. 4736 Princton Avenue at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Febuary 2, 1899. The remains were taken to Watseka, Ill., where interment was made in the new cemetery 3 miles east of town. Watseka was formerly the home of the deceased. The funeral discourse was preached in the Methodist Church at this place.
