Deceased was born February 6, 1837 and died may 26, 1900, aged 63 years, 3 months and 20 days. He was a member of Company I., 72d Indiana Volunteers, and was mustered into the service August Polesville, now Green Hill, this county. He was mustered out of the service July 24,1865, after a service in defense of this country of nearly three years. He was a member of the United Brethren Church for many years, and died an active member of that denomination. The funeral discourse was preached at the chapel in Green Hill on Monday May 28, 1900, at 10:30 o'clock by Rev. Perry Cooper, assisted by Rev. Joel Cowgill. Remains were interred in the Davis cemetery. The attendance of relatives and friends was large. With the exception of a few years in Kansas, deceased has always resided in Medina Township and was well regarded by the community. He leaves a widow and seven children, four sons and three daughters. The disease of which he died was nephritis.
