Obituary- Jacob Short was born in Decatur County, Indiana, December 15, 1830; departed this life at his late home in Pine Village, Nov 4, 1903. He was married to Sarah Siler October 5, 1851. To them were born eleven children - five sons and six daughters. The eldest, a daughter died in infancy. Five sons and five daughters still live. He moved with his family to Illinois in the year 1856, remaining there until 1881, when he removed to Putnam County, Indiana. Here the wife of his youth and the mother of his children died, August 8, 1885. In the autumn of 1886 he moved to Warren County, where he resided until the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Cinderella Kelsey on June 6, 1891. She still lives to mourn the loss of a husband. Mr. Short had been afflicted for two years, and for some time had anticipated that his end was near. While living in Illinois he and his wife united with the Christian church but after a few years, on account of dissension in the church, they, with some others, withdrew. The funeral services at his request, were conducted by the writer at the M.E. Church in Pine Village, at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov 6, and at 2 o'clock p.m. the family went with the remains to Greencastle, where he was buried beside his first wife in Forest Hill cemetery, on Saturday morning, Nov 7, 1903.
