Pine Village Football The Inside Dope: The History of a "Pre-NFL" Pro-Football Team. Includes an 18-page pictorial of Pine Village, circa 1900.

The book covers in chronological order all the games discovered in newspapers from 1989-1917, 1919, 1922 and 1927. Claire Rhode led a football team of hometown and college men to be the 1915 Independent Football Champions of the Midwest. The undefeated 1915 team played 8 games and scored a total of 271 points to their opponents 0 points. Some of the ex-college men he hired were ranked as All-Indiana, All-Western and All-American players. As a pro-team Pine Village lost twice in 1916, lost twice in 1917 and lost twice in 1919. In their pro years they played 37 games, scored a total of 627 points to their opponents 105. Photos of the teams are also in the book.
